Comic ending was much more important for the Scott Pilgrims of the world to read, but the movie choice was funny
I should read the comics sometime I have them sitting on my shelf

Most shows do start as comic or graphic novels that are then developed into TV shows or movies
The comic wasn't finished when the movie came out so they have different endings
A comic book/graphic novel is pretty much the same thing film makers use as a story board to explain the film.
