🥁 “The Skunk Who Brought the Boom” 🥁

It was a quiet afternoon in Parkaroo Park. For once, no one was yelling, breakdancing, or proposing interspecies podcast empires.

Fish was trying to impress Storm by juggling fruit. He dropped a mango on his foot.

“Ow! It’s okay! That’s part of the act!” he yelped, hopping in a circle.

Hope the posh crow queen was sipping sparkling birdbath water.
“I’m bored,” she declared. “Entertain me or I shall start judging your fashion.”

Wonderoo, offended, gasped. “I am never the warm-up act.”
Suddenly—

BOOM BA-BOOM BOOM CRASH!!

Everyone screamed. Maddie the raccoon tackled a bush. Red the penguin ducked behind a hedge. Sadie spun so fast she accidentally did a split.
BA-BOOM!

A parade of squirrels flew out of a tree in panic.

Then, from the smoke (why was there smoke?), emerged… Bailey.
A cheerful skunk with a backwards cap, sunglasses, and a full drum kit strapped to her torso like a backpack with rhythm.

“WHAT’S UP PARTY PALS?” Bailey shouted joyfully, pounding out a beat that shook three clouds out of alignment.

“I LOVE ALL OF YOU AND I BROUGHT VIBES.”

Chris the puppy immediately started wagging so hard he knocked over Fish.

Hugo clapped with his tail. “Is that... is that recycled drum plastic? Respect.”

Lexi, the farmer horse, blinked. “That skunk’s got rhythm, I’ll give her that.”

“Who even is that?” whispered Amber the red panda.

“I dunno,” said Fish from the ground. “But I think I want her to play at my future wedding.”

Bailey continued to drum and speak without pausing:

“My name’s Bailey! I hug trees! I play beats! I once hugged a tree so hard I accidentally married it! Don’t worry, it was annulled! I smell a little but my personality makes up for it! LET’S JAM!”

“Sup,” said Tash, appearing out of nowhere.
“Hi friend!” Bailey said, immediately high-fiving her mid-rhythm.

Red peeked out from behind a bush. “Okay but scientifically, how is she playing cymbals with her tail?”

Bailey did a backflip, still drumming. “I trained with otters and caffeinated parrots.”

Hope sniffed. “Is no one going to mention she smells like smoked onions?”

“she smells like fun,” said Sadie, fluttering dreamily. “And burnt toast.”

Vanilla the cow blinked. “I think my nostrils have given up.”

Bailey finished with a CRASH-BOOM-KAPOW, did finger guns, and yelled, “ENERGY!”

Everyone stared.

Then Maddie stepped forward, narrowed her eyes, and asked the question on everyone’s mind:
“...Do you do birthdays?”

Bailey beamed. “Only every day!”
And just like that, the crew had a new member.
Later that night, as Bailey drummed on a mailbox and Fish accidentally ate glitter, Wonderoo sighed and muttered, “He smells terrible, but I love her.”

And everyone agreed — the skunk had arrived, and Parkaroo would never be quiet again.
