Poe in the Last Jedi was super annoying. Did they ever really explain why they didn't tell him what the plan was ahead of time? Or was it just so he could be all rebellious against authority?

Didn't Holdo suspect there was a spy and thought poe was suspicious because he had already disobeyed orders from Leia
There is a lot that I don't like about that movie, and only a few things I do like. But I also recognize that many of the things that I don't like about it, I would feel the same way about the original trilogy if it came out now. So I recognize my hypocrisy, but I still can't get myself to like it.
Oh maybe. I've seen it twice but don't remember
I saw it 6 times in the cinema alone

I really like the bits with Luke being a grumpy old man hermit and having to have Yoda slap him around to get him to help, and then when he shows up and C-3PO is all "Master Luke" and Luke winks at him and then goes out and is a total badass and after he helps save the day he peacefully becomes one with the Force
I just hate that the reason he's a grumpy old man hermit is because they took the Luke-Leia-Han happy ending and ripped it to shreds

I would have really liked grumpy old man Luke if they had a good reason for it.
Luke: guy who saw the good in his father, the most evil man in the universe, and saved him. The guy who believed in the Jedi order and the Jedi way.
Then suddenly his angsty teenage nephew has dark thoughts and hes like "this is all dumb and bad and imma go be sadboi about it"
