Imagine being far away on a work assignment or vacation and some asshole is trying to libel and slander you, involving multiple law enforcement agencies, trying to ruin your career, reputation, life... That has likely cost tens of thousands of dollars just to mobilize resources.

Basically the idea that an astronaut was accused of something for the accuser to end up being sentenced....that's just wild and silly to me. There's literally nothing more to it
Remove the astronaut factor, replace it with federal officer and false police reports, abuse of federal law enforcement resources which could have been allocated for horrible things.
