I have spent many a day reading about various battles from different authors just to see if they come to the same end conclusion. Often you find they don't lol :)

I based a recent encounter in a story on Hannibal's victory over the Romans at Cannae.
History can be inspirational.
I used the 'Battle of the Nile' in a similar way in another story.

Just changed the names to keep history intact. :)

The "Battle of the Nile" I bet was a good one. And I can imagine the detail you went into with that. ;)
 
I'm planning a new story at present, this one is going to have the finale based on 'The Desert Fox'

I've been reading up on the man, innovative to say the least

My Great Grandfather was there, so I'll dedicate the novel to him.

My dad was as well. It's an area of military history I'm particularly aware of ;)
