@PheonixxxMonroe - Helices are interesting structure. So when in nature, a being/molecule anything wants to spend the least amount of energy and takes up the least space - the greatest way to bunch up in a small space, structures are helices.

Think of it as if you have a small space and you want to construct a staircase, one would design a spiral-ish staircase. Also, they somewhere can get derived from the Fibonacci series and the Golden ratio.
