The little things in life

My Simple Pleasures...

Brownies, still warm from the oven.
Mixing bread dough.
Baking pies.

The smell of a gentle spring rain.
A squeaky rocking chair on a shaded porch.
Iced tea.

The smell of an old book.
The crisp pages of a new one.

The sweet scent of a baby.
Laughing until you hurt.
Crying on a bad day.

Music.
Hot bath.
Glass of wine.

Crossing things off a to-do list.
Snow days.

Hello everyone.

So my mind has been thinking about all the little pleasures I find in life.
I thought I would list as many as I can remember, and see if anyone has any of the same.

. Waking up in a strong pair of arms
. That first sip of tea
. A chocolate biscuit to dunk
. Having my hair played with and brushed
. Feeling a light breeze on my skin
. Receiving a thank you
. Finding money in my purse I didn' know I had
. Getting the seasonings/flavourings just right when I cook/bake
. Having my back scratched lightly
. A long hot bath
. Singing badly to my favourite tunes
. Clean sheets on the bed
. The feeling of my cat cuddling up to me in the night

What are your simple pleasures?
Feeling the recoil from a 30-06 bullet leaving the barrel followed by the heat of 30lb of tannerite washing over my face

I am in love with your list. Like, all of it.

Curled up on the porch swing back home on a warm spring evening, glass of tea and a good book, listening to the cicadas singing. It doesn't get much more comforting than that.

*Okay, I will admit you can replace the book with my phone, and it's still pretty good!

Waking up and realising it's Sunday, you don't have to go to work, and the day is full of possibilities.

Rubbing my dog's belly.
The "full-body wag" of excitement he does when he hasn't seen me for even an hour.
Sometimes just watching him sleeping and enjoying the simple life of a dog.

Mountain air, especially early morning & late Fall evenings

In the Spring when the frogs or "peepers" as they say in these parts start singing

Full moons & stars ☆☆☆

Walking my dog on a country road

My late grandma's quilt to steal an afternoon nap on

The way the screen door sounds when it closes

Sweet smelling lotion after a warm bathe

Sunday supper

Finishing up a Sketchbook, full of ideas and dreams, only to use them as seeds when you crack open a new Sketchbook, blank, untouched and filled with possibilities for new ideas and dreams.
