Thoughts and musings

In a lot of my status updates on my profile you’ll notice a trend from my quotes. What I’d love to do daily is expound upon those quotes. I would like to gain insight into your thoughts and interpretation of them.

To start off this night I’ll use tonight’s quote from Mikhail Gorbachev

“If what you have done yesterday still looks big to you, you haven't done much today.“

A lot of people these days quote random inspirational shite they see off the googles or social media with no regards to context. Why did this person say that, what is their rationale behind what they said. Discuss?

“Fuck bitches, get money”
- at first may seem like a passerby quote if you couldn’t recognize the lyrical genius of 2 Pac.

Is he saying “fuck bitches AND get money”

Or “disregard” romantic interest, pursue financial success?

I.e “fuck that shit- do this instead”

The dichotomy of the latter suggests an internal struggle within the confines of many succesful rappers who find themselves in situations where they may need to sacrifice a critical element of life (their love life) in order to achieve success, akin to the buddhist monk who sacrifices lust for rebirth.

Or the former, suggests both can be done, but at what cost?

Lol love this very much. A well thought and presented quote.

'There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen' - Rumi

In my crude friend's words, it's a fancy way of saying action speaks louder than words.
However, for me it leans more towards silence speaks volume at times.
I like that one...Sometimes the silence is the loudest form of speech.

I quite often put up quotes, but it doesn’t really matter to me the feeling behind the quote from that person, is more to do with my feelings at that moment.
I like it. The interpretation of what is felt. Similar to how a song makes us feel despite its meaning. Left to interpretation.

However the understanding of the context of a quote is important in my opinion as well. Due to how quotes aren’t often misconstrued to serve an agenda the opposite of its intent.

“Don’t these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?”- Tool, Right in Two. A perfect bit of commentary on the mundanity of humanity’s fight for dominance over the Earth. I reallyreallyreallyreally like Tool.

I take this more spiritually. Such as an inner voice that guides you. You don't physically hear it but you know what its saying.

"loving you will be the death of me"

Christianity teaches to die daily, that is, to put to death the things that keep us from pursuing Christ whole heartedly. It is a spiritual death that we may be reborn in Christ.
