There are a number of fantasy tropes that I often see when I suggest a roleplay. I'm not saying they are bad or you are bad for suggesting them...
They are tropes for a reason after all, I'm just more into the subversion of said tropes. Anyway, here's the first and then my suggestions, feel free to add your own.
1. Kingdom marriage
You/I am a queen/princess/noble of kingdom X, he/they are from the neighbouring/nearby kingdom of Y, in order to secure peace, or as supplication to the stronger kingdom (always Y) I must be wed. Possibility of intrigue here but mostly a simple 'romance' plot. Although, I'd suggest, coercion isn't romance, and family duty isn't consent. Other alternatives are that kingdom Y is especially savage or barbaric etc.
Subversions
Rather than being two highborn royals, this suggestion is that you or I are a member of the household serving staff. Perhaps you've loved me from afar or perhaps we've always had a deeper connection than most normal royal/servant relationships. The story then is the attempt to stop the arrangement, perhaps we run away together or we're unable to escape and have an involved and dangerous affair.
Second subversion, it is our wedding day and we meet briefly beforehand (bad luck!) but are both surprised that we hit it off, perhaps this won't be too bad and then.... What's this? A huge army of monsters at the castle gates, or a portal rends itself into being and out pours an army of demons. Basically the Big Bad has arrived and we have to flee together with our families murdered and our kingdom(s) in flames. We find love on the road and work together through various hardships to overthrow the dark lord/lady.
Last, we are both massive sluts with a tremendous list of conquests. Rather than worry about the political implications we see our union as a great way of expanding our pool of fuck toys. Perhaps we even have a friendly/not-so-friendly competition, a bit like a Legolas and Gimli head count ... Or perhaps a seduction competition of a famously virginal royal (a la Dangerous Liaisons).
