It's becoming increasingly popular to pan sear lettuce. Not cook it, just more or less quickly roast to get some additional flavor/aroma (and some crunch) - without really cooking it. Tbh i haven't tried yet...This is an insult..

I have.. but in certain oven dishes.. if you do it right, it can be a crunchy addition.
I've tried it with Romaine, yuck.
