What is Message?

I keep seeing people on the live chats refer to Message as a means of keeping in touch.
But I'm not sure what it is. Is it it a particular app or site? It's hard to google it effectively because it has such a generic name.

If anyone can tell me and possibly link me to it, that would be great.

It's a replacement word for various spam content.

I think I get it. If someone says add me on “app name” it shows up as the word “message” in chat
