Look into USPS registered mail (I think that's the name of the service) shipping. I had to recently send something of high value, insured, and it was cheaper than any other USPS option and almost 50% cheaper than UPS.

The only downside is that it might take an extra day, because every single person (including USPS workers) who touches the package has to sign something and it stays locked up at all times.

I don't use UPS. To be fair, I was mailing a large item and had no choice but to use a large box. It's probably just what inflation has driven shipping prices to. Priority was insane about $40 lol. But my wallet hurts a little. I made a mistake when calculating shipping and I just need to eat the mistake.

Get a registered mail quote next time if you have to insure it. You might be surprised (if not, it doesn't cost to ask).
