So I haven't seen a thread like this and if there is one my apologies and I'll get this one removed. Basically share something about where you're from. How specific you want to be is obviously your choice so is what you share. It can be anything from sayings,legends,superstition or even events like festivals. So here's mine
I live in Pascagoula Mississippi no I don't care if you know I've mentioned it directly or indirectly in several posts.
Pascagoula is by the Singing river the town and river get their names from the pascagoula native American tribe.
The river is named that because the Biloxi and pascagoula tribes consisted in peace until the chief of the pascagoula tribe Altama fell in love with the Biloxi tribes princess Anola who was to be married to someone else. They were forbidden but Anola would not marry someone she didn't love. She fled to Altama and the Biloxis were on the war path to take the pascagoulans as slaves. Altama and Anola and the whole tribe joined hands and walked into the river singing their mourning songs because they would not be enslaved.
Some times you can hear them singing. And so it was named The Singing river.
