I don't think being invisible would impede my ability to cross the street safely. Besides, if flying is included, I stay above street level but below airliner heights.

Being invisible probably wouldn't elevate your awareness of your surroundings—not like you'd sprout eyes in the back of your head. If anything, people operating dangerous contraptions in your vicinity wouldn't be motivated to conduct themselves in safe manner as a result of your visual absence.

I know where you're coming from, but I would not be using that power to observe heavy machinery operating. It'd probably get used more to look out the window to see who is knocking at the door, or finding out what guys really talk about in the locker room. 'Moving stuff' springs to mind too. "I was sure I left my keys on the table"..
