But for me it was Captain Kirk.
God he was cool.
 
My high school science teacher who always saw the humor in me donating blood to get out of class, volunteer to clean the quad to get out of class, just not showing up to class, all the while spent time with me after school to make sure I passed his class. Yes, he saw the humor but never failed to give detention.
 
I've had a myriad of female role models throughout my childhood, teenage and adult years. Nobody you'd know. Just people in my life. Teachers, Mentors, Professionals. Women who kicked ass. Women who smashed the status quo and patriarchal rules.
 
My Dad. Surviving WWII from Dunkirk to North Africa. Sicily, Italy. Wounded just south of Monte Casino. Sent to Malta to recover. From there attached to a Gurka unit that went to Malaya and Singapore. Only ever saw him cry once. During the remembrance parade on the anniversary of El Alamein.

Well God is mine and always will be number 1 but I would also say Britney Spears is my hero or rather an inspiration because she went through a very dark time and was just not good but she pulled through and has accomplished so many things and for me it gives me the strength to push through my struggles with being chronically sick and know that things can and will get better. :)
