I used to play Dark Souls. All the saves were linked to one file, and there was nothing you could do about that because it was all automatic. The power blinked as it was saving. The file was corrupted and I lost probably about 300 hours worth characters.

That's terrible. I always made 3 files that I saved between, then a fourth that I only saved on once in a great while, so I could go back if I missed something really important.
