Vetkoek is a traditional South African fried dough bread. The vetkoek forms part of South African culture. It is similar to the Caribbean Johnny cake, the Dutch oliebol, and the Mexican sopaipillas. Another similar South African recipe is Amagwinya, the Xhosa name for this fried dough ball.

Normaly eat here with curry mince but goes well with tomato or jam or maple syrup
