Steam machine will be a smol computer with decent performance running on Linux and I think basically like a console for steam (pc) games.
Steam deck is like a Nintendo switch but for pc games

Perhaps this is a dumb question. But do I have to use a keyboard and mouse to play games on that?
Well some games are controller friendly and steam always had support for controllers so not necessarily. But since the thing isn’t out yet, I don’t really know about the software etc

Steamdeck in particular has amazing controller support will use just about anything and is fully customizable
Okay fair enough. The only reason I ever got an Xbox is because I like that controller more than a playstation controller. It's more comfortable. If I have to use a keyboard and mouse to play games then I'm not going to. I might as well just be at work
