I would still play it in full so you can have a better idea of the game to compare it to the two previous ones.

I enjoy games that I can get really emotionally attached to the characters

I've enjoyed the Kingdom Hearts series because of just that, otherwise I'm obsessed with the Football Manager series and lost weeks of my life to it

If you like getting attached to characters, maybe try The Witcher, Uncharted or maybe The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild(The last one is if yo take your time to get to know the story by side quests).

Yeah the Uncharted games are awesome, I do own Breath of the Wild and The Witcher I can't get in to them though

I'm a huge fan of the total war and civ series, grand strategy or 4x is pretty addictive for me in general.

I am a platformer. They don't tend to be as popular anymore which is why I tend to be a retro gamer. But I have gotten a lot of platforming indie games and the Mario series games are still platformers which I appreciate.

Hades is a really well-made roguelike, with tons of replay value, as well as good game play, animation, music, and characters. Plus you can pet the dog.

Honestly, one of the absolute most enjoyable games I ever played was Star Wars Galaxies before they went from 40 classes and an infinite grind to be a jedi. You could literally do anything you wanted and RP your fantasies of being anything in the universe. My view may be tainted cause I was like in middle school/early high school when I played it.
