Global Bubonic Plague Case in Mongolia

Contrary to popular belief the Bubonic Plague isn't that bad and has been around for centuries. Te Black death of the Late Ancient - Medieval Period was actually most likely Pnuemonic Plague, and airborne strain - kind of like COVID - go figure... Nothing to see here, move on.

But the plague is a bacterium and Covid-19 is a virus. There were three forms of yersinia pestis, bubonic (the most common), pneumonic, and septicemic. You could survive the first, you died quickly in the second and third cases.

Exactly. I didn't mean to imply the plague was viral, vice bacterial, just that the mode of transmission that is the most virulent is the airborne or pneumonic transmission.
or septicemic or bloodborne.

But in the middle ages they used quarantine while people now use fear mongering and scape goating

They also burned people alive or hanged them for being witches in Middle Ages. lol

Not to mention they used those who died from the plague and launched them with their catapult at towns and cities they wanted to capture so they would not have to fight that much. Let the disease kill off the people first.

That was one of my favourte tactics back in the "Pre Internet" days when playing medieval tactical games, although in Roman times they also used a form of chemical warfare by poisoning the wells to slow the build up of resistance forces when they were on the march.

The Nuns who were trained in caring for the sick also knew the value of face covering to prevent the spread of disease, and you are right, lockdowns were imposed to slow the spread of the disease.
Although in 18th and 19th century the uneducated believed that wearing perfume was also effective in warding off disease: Hence the Limerick/childrens song "ring of roses".
Various versions were mentioned in places as far apart as England and Australia.

The plague actually occurs naturally here in AZ and other states in the west of the US. Its generally not serious enough for panic so long as the victims get to the hospital early enough. The symptoms are unique and easy to spot most of the time. Theres usually 1 or 2 cases here per year in AZ that make it on the news. The plague can be treated today with antibiotics, even in its advanced stages if treated promptly enough
