Chat keeps dropping when not on Wifi

I used an iPhone via T-Mobile on 4G (I have 5G deliberately disabled, maybe that could help) in chat the other day. Not a single disconnect. Not a hiccup.

There's no recommended settings and I'm not telling you to talk to devs. Don't misrepresent what I stated. Thanks.

Just like with any website or software, given potentially unique circumstances, your mileage may vary.

You said to “talk to their developers” about the issue, and then said “Developers won't discuss those things with you in-detail.” There is no misrepresentation here.

I will just have to accept the fact that you’re unable to help me with this issue. Thanks for trying.

I had no connectivity issues with Verizon Wireless (even with a terrible signal in my area, on 4G and 5G alike) nor currently with T-Mobile on 4G.

You said to “talk to their developers” about the issue,

No I didn't. This is what I replied with:

Could be more built-in latency tolerance. Could be lower security requirements. Could be a less congested network... No way to know unless you talk to their developers.

and then said “Developers won't discuss those things with you in-detail.”

Likely not. Developers are usually outside, contracted parties who won't be hired to talk to you about how the website features operate. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can certainly try. I don't see it happening.

There is no misrepresentation here.

Refer to previous quote.

NOBODY can help you—all reasonable suggestions have already been made. I had and have no connectivity issues on same type of device on major cellular carriers. Maybe AT&T has issues in your area. Maybe the route your connection takes to FCN is whack.

Maybe you need to try 4G only, switch to T-Mobile or try your network well, well, well outside of your area.

Peace.

I’m glad you have no connectivity issues. But I still do, even when 5G is disabled. I won’t be switching carriers in order to chat occasionally. If FCN is incompatible with my provider in one of the nation’s largest markets, then I will use the other chat clients that have no connectivity issues over the same service. It’s possible there are settings on my device that are incorrect with relation to FCN and have yet to be explored, as the problem originated when I switched devices. Perhaps I’ll revisit them in the future.

I’m confident you did your best, and tried every suggestion you can think of. Thanks again for the effort.

You're approaching this in an odd manner. There is no "carrier compatibility." Lots of people use FCN via same network you're using (I don't know about your region).

If websites required odd settings on various devices just for accessing those websites, most of the web would be incompatible with devices of most people. There are no settings to toggle—it would be unreasonable to the users.

FCN chat is very busy and devices on spotty network connections will have trouble staying connected, because of low latency tolerance. It's a live stream of data requiring live feedback from the device. There's no buffer.

There's something happening on the network you use and not something FCN can address. You can try playing with experimental/advanced features in your browser's settings, BUT YOU'LL BE DOING IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, so I don't recommend it.

I'd really love to solve your issue, but there's literally no known solution. If you do come across a viable solution, we'd like to see it so we can recommend it to others.

Good luck. I hope you figure it out.

(If you're willing to reveal the network you're using and the region you're in, perhaps someone will read these posts and has a recommendation)

So here’s an update (of sorts) on this issue…

Recently I signed in for the first time in a while, and everything worked well, without incident. This continued for several days, about a week, and then without warning the symptoms described in the messages above returned. I get bounced out after seconds, and any subsequent attempts to sign in are met with either the infinite spinning wheel or I get in and am immediately bounced out again. I did absolutely nothing on this end to either make it work or make it stop working.

Suggestions as to what could be the cause of that?

Thank you for the links.

Did a speed test: connection and line quality excellent.
Did the ping test: 102 sends, 0 fails. Avg. 302 ms.

Went immediately to FCN, lost connection after 20 seconds.

Last week it worked without interruption under same circumstances for several consecutive attempts (over about 6 days?), then suddenly reverted to old disconnect pattern a day or two ago.
