Forum gifs

Can someone tell me how to get decent gifs uploaded to the forum? Mine always look like utter crap after compressing them down to the 1024kb.
I've just tried and failed to link a url instead. I know I'm probably just showing how inept I am with technology but I can't work it out. Any help would be appreciated.

1024kb is the limit. The only other way is to link it from a website which allows linking.

Thanks for the reply Stan, I shall continue to battle with gif optimisers.

Take out a few frames, shorten the duration and reduce the dimensions. lol

Done all them. Actually just coming to the conclusion I'm shit with gifs. But thank you!

Are you trying to put the gif url with the "link" button? or the image one (the button next to the smiley face button)...might make a difference?

I've tried both, the link button doesn't work at all and the image one just posts them as (IMG)

Yep I figured this is the early hrs. I need to find a picture hosting site I can upload to that is free. Bahaha, wish me luck!
Or I could just get on with real life and stop spending so much time procrastinating in here.

You know, in the chat area, GIF size limit is about 8 mega bytes.

Yeah, chat isn't an issue, it's the 1MB limit in forums which is a pain x
