How to post/send a pic?

Wanted to upload a pic in response to a thread here.
However, when I click the "image" button it asks for a URL.
So I try uploading the pic to a 3rd party website (postimg, imgur, etc) so I have a URL to input, but the spam filter then blocks me.

Is there a trick I'm missing here?

Click on the chain but you'll have to know the URL of the pic

Yeh no any external links and the system blocks it!
I understand with things like imgur or whatever that have a reputation. I just tried doing it with a google drive link and it still gets blocked!

Hummm fair enough... That seems not ideal given that there are instances where people might not want to share something in public.
Could I ask for the rational here?

To prevent spam, scams and illegal content to website's best ability. If someone evades the effort by linking something unwelcome, there's more paper trail and more heads to roll.

You could use live chat to upload photos in private messages. File upload limit is currently 10mb in chat.
