It kinda sorta almost happened that way for me once. It was on a different site. I was sitting up waiting to meet a train my daughter was coming in on. The woman asked what I was doing and I said; she said where and I told her; she said she lived in the same city. We talked about hobbies and turned out we both were trail runners; asked where she ran, with what groups - we both had been in a couple of the same races. It's not a huge running group but I hadn't actually met her before. Still, I did see her at a race later. So, kinda, sorta almost what you said...
