Is gardening a hobby or a chore?

Its a hobby for me but as with most things i do im OCD. It has grown into a small organic 4 acre farm I even have a tractor lol Last year I harvested over 100s of Sweet corn watermelon pumpkin peppers squash zuchinni etc...

Thanks, I give away tons of veggies. It is a lot of work but one thing I have learned, i use a large grass catcher, when I mow the fields I collect the grass and dump it in large piles next to the gardens. Then I take A pitchfork and spread it around the plants. It works GREAT to keep weeds down and moisture, nutrients in. I do not use any chemicals. 1 thing I do not grow is broccoli or califlower as the insects Love to eat them. I start early as the bugs get worse in late summer in the midwest.

Its taken a few years, I also love fishing boating golf classic cars and harleys (although I dont ride as much as I did before smart phone era...only rode twice last year, too many idiots out there) Come on summer!

I am lucky to have a nice garden, and I usually enjoy working in it in all weathers, but sometimes it seems like a chore and it can be costly for plants and tools. Ours (mine at the moment, because we are separated) overlooks open field at the back and I do sometimes think not having a garden, but just looking out onto the fields, would be easier and nicer.

Do others feel gardening is a hobby, or a chore?
Def a chore but do enjoy. Who says chores can't be fun. .

I actually don’t mind having an herb garden, but flowers and vegetables feel more like a chore for me

i think anything that you enjoy can just be classed as "a labour of love" it is still al ot of hard work and can at times be a real chore but if you enjoy it and love what you get out of it it is still a hobby.

Favorite time of the year is here love watching the sprinkler water a freshly plowed/planted garden. Hope this year is as good as last year

That is a beautiful garden: and so much space.

Here the weather has been - and still is - unseasonal and difficult but so far losses have been limited.
