As a moderator I see a lot. I see the good the bad and the ugly and sometimes I have to step in and sort it all out. One thing that really presses my button though is Transphobia in the lesbian room. Nothing makes me see red more than someone from the lgbtq+ community dragging down another. We should be supporting each other and lifting each others up not dragging each other down.
Luckily I have been blessed with people in my life who have been accepting in my personal choices even if they didn't always understand them. I was raised to be open minded and to accept everyone for who they are. I have also been raised to stand up for my beliefs, to stand up for those who need their voice to be heard. I have seen the conflict and pain that the lgbtq+ community has had to endure and are still enduring in certain parts of the world, even in countries that are meant to be more accepting.
A big reason I dislike seeing people in our community being so transphobic is because it leaves the door open for homophobia. To me if hetrosexual people see lesbians or gays being transphobic then to some of them its definitely ok for them to be that way too. If we open that door then we open the door to them thinking that homophobia is ok as well. This is 2021 we should be far enough evolved that we don't break each other down just because of our choice of gender, our race, our sexuality or any other stereotype.
Now am I perfect? Far from it. I am so imperfect its terrible lol. I am not saying that there are people I don't get along with. There are and I am not afraid of getting into arguements with these people. I try to give everyone atleast one chance. I try to treat others the way I want to be treated and the way I want the people I care about be treated.
To give an example of my imperfection, as a mod I go into many different rooms. It makes it a lot easier when I need to double check peoples reports. Someone asked me which room I disliked going in the most (out of the ones I do go in) and I said the Indian room as it made me cringe the most (not those exact words but close enough) Recently I have spent a bit of time in the Indian chat room and I am really really enjoying it. There are some lovely chatters in there. There are some cringy ones but you can find them in every room. I am so happy that I moved past my preconcieved ideas and actually sat in that room and had a chat with some of the chatters.
So to those people that are so Transphobic I am asking you to keep an open mind. Try actually talking to one of the trans ladies in the room, they really are beautiful souls if you give them the chance. If you don't want to though then just block them then you don't have to deal with them.
Don't carry on about them though. At the end of the day they are more than welcome in the lesbian room. FCN is happy to allow them in the room, so it doesn't matter if you like it or not.
