I do not care about how developed his brain was. Or that he was 17. He was old enough to get a gun he was not legally allowed to own. Cross state lines to look for trouble and shoot three people killing two. You are making excuses.

He did not own the gun. It was completely legal for him to borrow another person's gun in Wisconson. Did you even bother to watch any of the trial? That it was legal for him to borrow the gun is why the judge threw out the charges of having the gun illegaly. The borrowing of guns by under age people happens all the time. It is usually done when a parent owns a gun and lets a kid borrow it when they go out hunting together, until the kid is of age to own the gun. It is at that point the parent gives said gun to the kid.

Please at least try to use facts and truth when you post, not doing so makes you look quite silly. You do not want others laughing AT you, right?

This seems unnecessarily hostile. Frankly they were all being stupid. Anyone destroying property during a protest was asking for trouble, anyone attacking an armed individual is.... fucking stupid, and a child acting as an emergency responder in a hostile environment was asking for trouble. Sorry no one deserved to die, people are stupid.

Dcdevon has definitely fallen into the category where you could be making a great point, but no one is listening who doesn't already agree.

I generally agree. Did you know, though, that Kyle had been trained in first responder first aid by the police AND they gave him body armor to use to keep himself safe doing it. This was a bit before the Wisconson incident. Kyle did not have it on because he was not intending to be in a fight, he was carrying his first aid kit on himself prominently. As the rioters chased him, he kept yelling "FRIENDLY" over and over, but they did not care.

I think rioters have learned they can do as they please and nothing will happen to them - even if they take over multiple city blocks.

Sorry didn't realise you were there..... o_O

I dunno I gotta push back on that a little bit. I'm trained in cpr but I'm certainly not going to jump in an ambulance. He is a kid though, and those guys were garbage for attacking him. All the community College weekend courses in first aid and emergency response, he was still way out of his element here. Help out in a case crash, great! Jump into a riot and defend a dealership likely carrying insurance..... really dumb.... but he's a kid and he's going to have to live with this his entire life.... I don't envy him one bit

I don't think I came across as hostile at any point, and if I did, I didn't realize and I apologize. Trying to take a break from the thread rn to focus on IRL responsibilities and because of how quickly replies were coming in the thread started to feel dizzying lol.

I don't appreciate being told that my opinions are by default invalid because of my age, and being told I'm wrong with no actual provided reason or source as to why.
I also don't think I'm a "far right wing" as they're accusing me of just because I believe people have the right to self defense? People can have diverse political opinions but still lean towards a certain political group, not everything is Democrat or Republican. xC
Also pretty sure name calling isn't even allowed in the thread and it's pretty immature in an argument/discussion regardless.

But what I'm mainly trying to say here before getting a bit sidetracked is that they can't say that Rittenhouse knew what he was doing therefor he deserves to die for it, and then saying shortly after that he was a literal child and didn't know what he was doing. It's contradictory.

I said at the beginning of the thread that I don't hear much discussion of where his parents were in all this. And if he truly was encouraged by other people to do this, then shouldn't they be to blame?

Oh nah you weren't being hostile you're good. I don't totally agree he is in any way innocent morally because of his age, but definitely didn't deserve death more than anyone else. Otherwise I think you make a lot of sense. I'm also tired and a little drunk lol

I watched the entire trial and saw all the evidence displayed from both the defense and prosecution.

Kyle Rittenhouse is innocent both morally and legally. He clearly had the right to self defense. And him being from another state doesn't really mean anything considering his dad lived in Kenosha and so did many of his friends. He also worked in Kenosha as a life guard.

Fun fact. Gaige Grosskreutz lived further away from Kenosha then Kyle and had less or no ties to Kenosha.

There was also plenty of photo and video evidence showing Kyle Rittenhouse, cleaning graffiti off the highschool in Kenosha, providing medical aid (He was first aid certified), and walking around with a fire extinguisher putting out flames where he could.

Meanwhile there's also photo and video evidence of Gaige Grosskreutz (The guy who got shot and lived) and Jeffery Rosenbaum (The first guy that attacked Kyle) are walking around destroying property and threatening to harm people. Jeffrey Rosenbaum. I haven't even mentioned the video evidence of the incident. Jeffrey Rosenbaum had not only provoked but attempted to attack Kyle Rittenhouse and I'm more than convinced Jeffrey Rosenbaum would have killed Kyle if Kyle didn't have his rifle. Kyle had done nothing to provoke anyone despite being armed. He displayed proper gun safety in every video he was in. Never pointed his gun at anyone until he was attacked.

Who the fuck are you to think I care about your opinion of me ? I do not .Rittenhouse said he gave his friend money from an unemployment check to buy him the gun. How does that make the gun not his? How is that borrowing a gun? You should try and use facts and truth when you post. You do not want others laughing at you right ? Well too late for that. I laughed when I read this ridiculous drivel.

You posted misinformation. More than once .You attempted to use Wikipedia as proof of what you claim. You have no clue what you are talking about.

Wikipedia has citations. You can go to the page and click on the annotations next to what I highlighted.
I was completely willing to 100% hear out your opinion until you started condescending and name calling. If by your standard Rittenhouse knew what he was doing despite his age, than I am capable of having political opinions and discussions regardless of my age.

I didn't say you were not capable of having political opinions .But if you are trying to make a point don't post lies , misinformation or use Wikipedia as a source and expect to be taken seriously. People like me will fact check it all .Point it out and if you continue to do so treat you accordingly.

I don't know when I posted "lies" asides from at the beginning of the thread, which I had no issue correcting myself on as soon as possible. If my opinions are invalid because I made an error once, than by that logic @witchygirl has invalid opinions too.
People can make errors and still contribute to discussions as long as they are willing to own up to their errors.
Also, if you truly did fact check it all, then couldn't you just link the source of your information? I would have been willing to listen/check it.
And you literally told me to withdraw myself from the forum and "let the adults talk" and then called me a confused/foolish little girl.

I do not care what you think either. You and everyone else on this thread and your and their ideas and opinions mean nothing to me.
... i mean what are you doing here then? The point is to discuss a somewhat complex moral social/ political issue, not to own the libtards/magatards. This isn't a contest to be won, this SHOULD be a sharing of opinions and facts so that we all come out more enlightened.

Well said, and definitely made me second guess myself a little, or at least soften my opinion of Kyle. I still STRONGLY believe that regardless of his ties to the community it was a terrible idea to go there and morally should have stayed home or waited until the worst of it was over.

Neither Rittenhouse or the other three he shot at really needed to die. Protests should always stay peaceful, but I understand people were mad and humans are emotional creatures and the news does a great job at telling enough of a story to cater to their audience to keep the ratings up.

In the moment, were I Kyle Rittenhouse, I would have shot too and spent the rest of my life regretting having gone.
