having an ultrasound never had before so kind of nervous. anyone up on this or a health care person?

thank u. im 24 male got hurt playing baseball need to get ultrasound of groin lower abdomen. i had xrays and mris never this. nervous and unsure. any input is apreciated

It comes to the extent and severity of your injury(ies), if the diagnosis is made and ultrasound is just to confirm or rule out something you don't have to much to worry about, again this is between you and the specialist.

If you are wondering on what to expect- usually wherever the origin of pain/ or swelling is (if it is an external site) the tech. administering the ultrasound will start with placing the probe at the site or surrounding region... based on how that goes, if the diagnosis is not confirmed they then may have to conduct an invasive ultrasound as well - again this is a conversation between your specialist/ the professional you are seeking help of... I can't pass a judgment nor provide affirmation (should that be your question), as there are numerous things to rule out for a proper assessment on how they will proceed with your upcoming ultrasound (the possible sites, how many times. Etc).

Since it is sensitive information, also not something it should be posted here on a thread. I can think of few things, however not part of my scope here and I don't want to unnecessarily scare you.

Thank u I understand. its external from what i read in the papers. the diagnosis list scrotal groin. thats where it is. I researched online but alot of info out there. they use a scan wand and gel so i get it. The only question i got that i cant find an answer is that i keep my hair very short there its close to the area so is that ok or do i need to remove it? I dont want to find out when im there. Thank u

I am sorry didn't your post until now... FCN notifications broke down for me over the weekend and Monday.

If you haven't already had your exam it really doesn't matter if you remove it or not (personal preference). Mostly they start at the crease of your groin and venture forward from there (if required).
 
I've had xrays mris ultrasound around my kidneys and my legs checking for blood clots they all came back okay it's a normal thing for athletes to get done I tore my mcl and all in the same leg playing football they suggested I get surgery but I couldn't pay for it so never got the surgery
