So for context: "I fully support FCN's stand against scams and similar. I see people constantly being blocked for similar offenses" I'm saying that people get banned as scammers who are not scammers. The mods need to pay closer attention to who they are actually banning and why. I realize that a lot of the mods are volunteers and I can only expect so much. The movement here of seeing people constantly 'blocked''banned' etc may not be as fruitful as you all are thinking.
Currently, I'm banned for scamming. I've never scammed anyone in my life. I have a fairly normal professional career. If you go into some of the drama threads of people being banned there's similar stories. Even if they all are lying, I know I'm not. Even if I just have to wait a week and pound sand., I still don't like that people see me get banned and go, "Good job they got another scammer!". For a sillier example, I got a fairly short ban for 'diaper play' (or very similar). Stan, I'm a kinky guy and all.... but uh... diaper play isn't my thing. Nothing even in that general area of kinks. My only theory on why is that my name is too generic.
Scanning bans are automatic and are a result of certain word combinations, possibly contact info, possibly URL sharing or the network you use. I'm not going to speculate which one of those or a combination of those is causing the system response. Mods have nothing to do with that. With such a huge volume of traffic, there are certain necessary measures in place to combat spam and scams. There is no other way to combat this. If you ran into a very short ban, you likely ran into someone else's ban on the same network. Some ISP's are junky and don't provide huge network resources in some regions. Moderators have nothing to do with this. Registered usernames are completely unique. Generic username can be an issue only when it's a Guest login. We can look into bans while they're active and try to determine what has taken place using evidence, which is why we have a Ban Appeal process, ask for details and a screenshot. It doesn't sound like your unfortunate experiences have any mod involvement.
