I'm always seeing complaints from older people that things aren't how they used to be or that you can't say certain things anymore without offending someone or people are becoming more sensitive, complaints about what men or women are openly into and other shit that has no real bearing on their lives.
First of all, that's some of the worst passive-aggressive bullshit you can be saying to other people. Fuck off. If you don't like the advancing society, crawl back into your hole, don't participate and stay in your little stagnant personal swamp of delusional paranoia.
People have always been "sensitive" and weary of injustices of the humanity. The internet and explosion of Instant social media, as well as news (surprise, surprise—there's more news to report as a result), simply enabled everyone to communicate and organize in a much quicker and more effective manner. More and more people around the world have been gaining access to social media and Instant communication, bringing like-minded and similarly oppressed and/or disadvantaged people together to effect change which benefits a larger portion of the society rather than a minuscule portion comprised of privileged, old, oppressive assholes resistant to change.
Societal changes since beginning of time have benefited everyone and that is the point of change. Sentiments across entire social fabric don't charge for the worse, otherwise, humanity would have completely fallen apart very, very, very, long time ago. All the recognition and rights people are gaining which make you uncomfortable also indirectly (and sometimes directly) benefit you as well, regardless of your bullshit religion or broken ass personal and outdated beliefs.
You're not the one to decide what's best for the younger generations. Younger generations are perfectly capable of deciding for themselves and don't need your inapplicable and ignorant views of the past. Shit needs to advance, not stay stale and unproductive. If you can't keep up, shut the fuck up and go back to sleep.
"Government this, government that" or "Political party this, political party that" tropes I constantly hear are another category of idiocy leading to toxicity in modern society.
First of all, you need both parties for balance—the left for creativity and the right for managing all that shit so it doesn't get out of control. That's just how it works in a healthy society on a psychological level. The left will always get creative ("Hurry up, shit is getting stale and not enough people are participating") and the right will always tug at the leash ("Whoa, whoaaaa slow down, let me catch my breath! I like it the same all the time! Let's talk.")
Second, the government is comprised of people, not some evil alien life forms. They're people like you. They ARE you. Theyre you and I. We voted them in. The behavior of politicians is a reflection of the society—you and I—right down to absurd bickering as a result of personal preferences. No aliens arrived from some outer space civilization and installed this evil government. Policies taking shape in government are shaped by people—the constituents. Whatever is happening in the government is a mirror image of what's happening in the constantly changing, evolving and advancing society. What the majority of humans seek is what's going to shape all policies. Confused? Look at what's happening in Universities now—that's what will affect policies in the next decade. Those people are the government—your offspring, your peers, your whatever.
