When you're a family member of someone living with ALS, you're constantly grieving. You grieve the loss of each thing as it happens - their ability to speak, their ability to walk, their ability to stand, their ability to eat & drink. What's truly heartbreaking is their independence is ripped away from them. My heart breaks daily for my mother and to just see her waste away is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever had to watch. I don't wish this pain on anyone, and I mean anyone. Be grateful for your life because it can change so fast.
