Group Banter Race to a million

I was arguing with people in #UKchat yesterday about freshness of fish in England. And as I was looking shit up while arguing, it turned out that 95%+ of fish is processed and frozen at sea, because the boats are out some four days, because they fish some 100mi off-shore in colder waters.

Fish would rot if they didn't progress and freeze it out at sea on the boat.
Nobody in England is eating fresh fish unless you're in some coastal town where fish can *sometimes* be bought from a boat that doesn't go out for longer than a day. But what is the quality and cleanliness of that fish close to shores?

Why do people inland think the fish they're eating is fresh?
