It's just like...it came first but when you watch it all in chronological order it's like the culmination of all this stuff, and you've seen all of the characters already, some of them a lot, but it's their first appearances and it just flips everything around and is a bit odd! But also cool

I get it! Totally. Even though I've never seen most of what you watched
There is some stuff that doesn't quite hang together but it's nothing too major. And there's a lot of great little things that have more oomph from having watched the other stuff
Like there's an episode of Rebels where teen Leia is sending relief ships from Alderaan that just "happen" to get intercepted by the Rebels and she's like "oh noes it's been intercepted by the Rebels" and the Imperials are like "Funny how that keeps happening hmmm?" but she turns it around on them like "it keeps happening bc you guys suck at protecting my relief ships!!!!" and the Imperials are like "oh oops our bad"
So then when she gets caught at the beginning of Ep IV and tries to pull the "this is just a relief ship" thing again and Vader is like "yeah fuck that you're part of the Rebel Alliance" it becomes this payoff to that whole thing where her luck finally runs out
