I think that apologies are over-rated, unless you are being a total jackass.
Sometimes, you will do something wrong or careless, and most people will accept that you did wrong and leave it there.
However, when people DEMAND an apology, they can make like a Christmas Turkey and get stuffed.
Nobody owes reverence nor subservience to anybody, without their consent, so if somebody willingly takes offence at something I have said that wasn't offensive nor wrong in any way then in my mind I have nothing to apologise for.
Moreover, do you really want an apology, or do you want me under your thumb? If it's the latter, then you don't really want an apology and that is a d*ck move.
When I see and hear people apologising over nothing, or on behalf of somebody, I find it to be insincere and just virtue-signalling. If somebody does not want to apologise, then they won't apologise short of being dragged into court.
Yes, people should not be mean to others, but there is a difference between somebody getting upset because he/she was called an offensive term (which can be punished by law) and somebody getting upset over absolutely nothing.
