ok. So I am wanting to upgrade from my iPhone 6.
Well not really wanting too because I like it but it is just getting too glitchy and buttons breaking.
So was thinking rather then buying new getting a refurbished phone.

Want to stick with iPhone but not sure which model.

Any ideas, thoughts, comments ?

As long as it has a decent warranty.

iPhone SE (2) is fairly "cheap" from the latest releases (earlier this year, mostly has iPhone 11's hardware). You can even try trading it in with Apple.

iPhone SE2 has the smaller screen (not the "Plus" size).

One thing you got to be careful about is Battery degradation. Older the model, older is the battery. Even the idle battery degrades over a period of time. So shall suggest avoiding older models.

Newer refurbished from an authorised source is a safer bet.

I have personally haven't had 100% success with refurb electronics and phones are extra iffy.

Phones are pushed through a contractor performing refurb jobs and inspections, authorized by Apple and low-paid contractors like to cut corners. They could miss/ignore water damage (rain, hand sweat, etc), faulty buttons, etc.

Better off getting a new, older phone.

Especially refurbished sellers online are totally useless. A lot of issues and back & forth.

Apple usually discounts last years models as soon as the current year models are fully in stocks. That would be a good time

Authorized Apple refurbers are required to replace the battery with a new one. iPhones have a built-in software feature which measures the performance/capacity of the battery. If you ever get an iPhone refurb sold by an authorized dealer, check the battery first.

I’d advise against refurbished phones, for same reasons others have given above. I would suggest buying one new.
Depending on what it is you want out of a phone and your budget, iPhone SE is similar to the iPhone 6. I previously had the iPhone 8+ and would recommend it, I upgraded mostly because I wanted a better camera. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you all for your messages.
I think I am going to buy new ... was looking at a friends 11 the other day as was pretty impressed with it.
Will admit the camera is a big selling point for me as I do take lots of photos ( not meaning what I take for here). So a quality camera in my phone, rather then carrying around my older SLR would be great.

Thanks again.

Can I ask what you upgraded to?

I’ve upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro. I too didn’t want to lug about my DSLR to get a decent photo.

If you’re serious about your photography, it’s worth it, however, there are previous (less expensive) models which also have great cameras.

Thanks. Think I need a trip to the Apple store.
