okay here’s the background. i recently got a new job as a medical attendant for the lifestyle center of a gated community. it’s mostly smaller families and older folks and i thought hey i’ll get some clinical practice in. but nothing really happens. i put on one bandage since i got here, otherwise that they have me at a desk overseeing the sign in for the residents. today i am working from 8-8, so 12 hours. i cant rlly leave where i’m sitting in case someone comes and my desk is like a computer desk so i sit. i feel bloated and nauseous from all this sitting so i stopped eating breakfast and i sometimes just go to sleep when i get home. even then tho i feel like my ankles are swollen. idk what to do i hate sitting all the time it’s a reason why i don’t fuck with airplanes. like there’s genuinely no place to like walk either bc i’m supposed to be attentive. i go to pee often since i’m drinking lots of water but it’s not enough to say “oh yeah i walked a bit”. at open and close i do a walk around and make sure to take time and take long routes and stairs. but i still feel gross. what do i dooo

yes! i try to do those exercises when i remember to. unfortunately i can’t change out the desk since im not the only one who works here and it’s only a summer job. maybe im making it better than it is. i’m just used to walking around for work and school

Hard to picture your work environment, but if you don't have to sit, then I'd stand as much as possible there at the desk. Stretch out too. And you can do some exercises while remaining at your station, for sure. Are there dumbbells or kettlebells you can keep at the desk?

I work as an office secretary for my husbands parents , and im sitting a lot during the day, even though I work 3 days a week. I do try to walk around the shop ,when I’m not busy with paper work. People are so happy if they leave a message and I call them back. Win win
