Am little hesitant about posting this but seems right that someone should read it and was asked about it . This was a very little poem I included in my final words to my late wife at her funeral, however I never read it aloud.
I will await you under the apple tree, now limbs hanging low and fruits long gone.
The tree that once we stood beneath, fingers intertwined and gaze locked.
And with a smile on your lips you spoke those fated words to me.
Words which burned into my mind and heart, your prize my soul forever.
But we were so young, beneath those flowers of pink and white, did you know what you were saving?
A girl who lost her family, lost her path, lost her mind, you helped her find it and so much peace.
And I was just a girl as were you, but so much love and wisdom in your body could not hide.
You gave me a way, a purpose, a hand to hold in the darkness.
You led that scared girl into a new world, but one so much better for you being in it.
And though older I am now my memory lingers on that moment, a moment where two lives became one.
I will await you under the apple tree
