US capitol is currently on lockdown

Unfortunately it's not over for sure . But I think what happens next depends on what our law enforcement does. The current administration has coddled these millitia , Qnon and white supremacist groups for the last few years. They will definitely be here in the city next week. If they crack down on them then and continue to investigate and arrest those planning further violence we can get it tamped down. They won't go away all of a sudden but damage can be mitigated. But they need to stop playing with these domestic terrorists. Hunt them down if they are planning attacks. Arrest them or kill them if they refuse to put down their weapons. We've done the same all over the world. No reason we can't in our own country.
 
If it would have been a large group of black or brown people planning to attack the Capital or just protest in general there would have been police everywhere. You can tell by the different preparation for BLM protests and TR.ump supporter protests. Even though the DOJ and FBI say our biggest terror threat is from white nationalists, Qnon and millitia types. But because they are mostly white they have been allowed to do whatever they want. I mean they planned this on open forums . Believe me if it would have been people of color doing that in the open they would have been investigated and arrested quickly.

I agree but I'm a little concerned that the incoming administration might have so many things to deal with. Covid is still a long way from over even though we now have the vaccine. The Dems will be under the gun to get that cleaned up. And I also fear the Dems may be hesitant to go after the instigator for fear of creating a martar. The new government also has to spend a good amount of time mending fences with America's allies. The orange idiot has really pissed a lot of people off. These groups and insurgents need to be dealt with for sure. I just don't know if it will be done andbthey fall through the cracks only to rise up again. Maybe they hibernate and rear their head in 2024? I don't know. It's just frightening times and a lot of bad things are happening.

It's obviously a double standard. Especially considering TR.ump called in the national guard and dispersed B.L.M. protestors earlier this year for a photo op.

Also, the Governor of Maryland publicly stated that he had the national guard troops ready to go but had to wait over an hour and a half for authorization. He said that called the seceratary of defense and the oval office and nobody answerred or returned calls. Then in that stupid, robotic speech afterward TR.ump had the audacity to brag about deploying the national guard, ommitting the fact that they waited until the capitol was over ran. It's a sad day in U.S. history.

Your concerns are valid . There is a lot going on and a lot that will be going on. I'm hoping that now people will finally take the threat seriously and that there is time to deal with it before it gets too out of hand.

It sure is a sad day in our history. And one that exposed the double standards between how white and black / brown people are treated by law enforcement in this country . Although we've been saying it for more than 100 years. And even now many are still trying to justify it and make excuses.

Not the first time a new administration had a lot to deal with. Every new leader in the last let's say 20 years had a lot of problems when they started

I agree Biden will have to deal with the results of Tr.umps non governing at home and abroad. While also dealing with a large part of the population that believes his presidency is unearned and a Republican party that will back them in their beliefs. Just because a few rats are jumping ship doesn't mean Trumpism is dead . It's not and will only get worse . A few of the people who have been interviewed by the FBI said specifically they did it because they believed Tr.ump told them to. And they still believe that and will act accordingly.

Theres going to be a ton of work Bid.en will have to do when he takes office. Many laws that he will have to undo, It shouldnt be too hard though since everything swapped to blue.

A Capital Hill police officer has been suspended. For putting on a MAGA hat and giving people directions. As I said it's hard to find offices in that building. They had to have help . The selfie cop was suspended as well. And it seems one has been arrested. Although that person may be a Guard member not a cop.

Yeah, its likely that the protesters did get help from the police. The police were the ones that opened the gates for them to flood into the Capital in the first place.
 
Theres going to be a ton of claims coming out right now. Especially while the whole situation is being investigated and arrests are still being made. Proof for any claims are essential right now, especially considering the seriousness of this 'protest'
 
Whatever happens leading up to inauguration day isn't going to be anything like the 6th. Downtown DC looks like a city fortified for invasion which I guess it is. Streets blocked everywhere, fences around bus stops, cops / Guard troops everywhere , sirens going off constantly. And of course those big black SUV's riding around lol. Biden and Congress will be safe . Not so sure about businesses and people who live downtown though. Those pissed off terrorists will vent their anger on something or someone. But I'm really hoping I'm wrong .
