“Well, I’m glad you sorted that out,” I manage to laugh. “I did enjoy it and regardless that at the beginning, I did resist a little, not because I didn’t like what was happening, just because of it was so unnatural.”
“You have to admit, I bet you’ve had worse lovers.” Pharone grinned at me, a knowing, woman-to-woman smile.
‘How the hell is a normal bloke going to compete with that?” He mutters with a smile; “bloody women.” David we both realise has been a silent observer to everything that has transpired.
“I’m sorry, David,” Pharone exclaims. “I forgot you were here.”
“Well, that’s bloody obvious. You have no idea what it’s like, standing here, watching two of the most beautiful women I have ever known having their brains fucked out by someone else.”
“Come,” Pharone suddenly exclaims. “Let’s all go for a swim.”
David shrugs, kicks his runners off and then drops his t-shirt on them.
“Is that all, David?” Pharone asks, indicating his shorts.
“Ah, what the hell,” he mutters. “You’ve seen it all before Pharone and you’re both naked.” With that piece of logic dispensed, he pulls his shorts off and tosses them onto the clothing pile.
“Thinking back to the date we had at the club and what my intentions had been for a while, I can see, I would not have been disappointed.” I smile at him, feeling rather confident in myself and perhaps a bit flirty then Pharone laughs.
Pharone takes his hand and draws him towards the surf and on a whim; I hurry to his side and grasp his other hand. Pharone is first; as a wave breaks just in front of us, she dives into it as it washed past David and I then we both duplicate her actions with the next wave then all three of us are swimming away from the shore. Suddenly, another of those columns of water erupts from the surface of the ocean beneath Pharone, bearing her up, up and even further up before tumbling over and she executes a graceful head-first dive back into the ocean.
“Oh my god,” I scream when I feel the water pressure under me and suddenly I’m being pushed up and up before I’m launched back at the sea.
I manage to brace for a dive and plunge deep when I hit the water but a few sure strokes and with the water pushing, my head breaks the surface just in time to see both David and Pharone rising on two more columns to dive back into the water. Suddenly, I’m being pushed along, faster and faster and then just as dolphins do, the surging push of water throws me into a graceful arc and again, with arms extended, I hit the water and the push of water resumes. A glance to my left reveals, Pharone and David are paralleling me, also apparently leaping and plunging, again and again and it’s completely effortless. All I do is maintain the arms extended, legs straight position and the power of the surging push of water does the rest, on and on, leaping and plunging until suddenly, I realise, we’re not alone. A pod of actual dolphins has joined us and before long, we’re mimicking their actions, twisting and turning with every leap, plunging deep and soaring high. It’s by far, the most exhilarating experience I have ever known. I feel so free, so alive, defying the laws that normally bind humans to their actual existence. As quickly as they came, the dolphins are gone, heading for the distant horizon and we three ae left floating together and I’m aware, I’m not having to read water to keep my head above the surface.
Pharone breaks into deep and hearty laughter, David follows and a moment later, I’m laughing right along with the pair. We swim together and embrace, no words need to be said. We have the benefit of a shared experience and each of us knows what the others are feeling. A glance shows, we are so far out to sea, the shore is barely visible; just a hazy line at the white-water mark where the surf breaks and the solitary light of Pharone’s house behind it. For a moment, I feel a little fear, so far from shore and so far out to sea but when we disentangle ourselves, those currents are back, sweeping us back towards terra-firma. David and I stumble out of the surf, laughing and running through the shallows. I drop to being seated on the hard sand, just above the extent of the waves and David does the same beside me. Pharone has stopped where the water is waist-deep, facing back out to sea and as before, there is a small column of water close to her face it appears the pair are talking so I boost my hearing levels to listen to what’s being said.
“My father, thank you for sharing of yourself with my friends. Thank you for your gifts. Thank you for being gentle with Dayna. I know the tempest that resides within you but refrained.” A few moments of silence follows. “Yes, she is not like a human. Her mind is very human but not the brain that holds it.” Again a few moments of silence follow. “I can’t read her thoughts either Father, it’s not just you.” The pauses I assume are Poseidon replying and the revelation that I am now accepting the existence of this God as being real. I simply can’t deny the evidence of my experience. There is most defiantly intelligence behind it and although, it’s not a typical physical presence, it does have real presence in the form of the waters of the oceans it commands. “I will pass along your appreciation and tell her, you now consider her your daughter as well; regardless that fathers are not supposed to have sex with their children. I do understand the distinction involved here and will make her aware of your feelings on the matter.” I can tell, there is genuine affection involved here and I’m moved almost to tears watching Pharone interacting with the God of the oceans, this Poseidon. I know now, she has been telling the truth and it wasn’t just some incredible tale concocted for my benefit.
“It’s sure as hell something to see, Dayna,” David remarks as with a final gesture of I guess the love Pharone and Poseidon share, she seemingly caresses the water-column confronting her with both hands then as it retreats back to the sea, she turns and walks towards us.
“So, Dayna, are you satisfied that I have proved my case?” Pharone smiles and I guess the expression I must surely have on my face is all the answer she requires.
“As unbelievable as it has all been, yes, I do no longer harbour any doubts, you were telling the truth.”
“Poseidon now considers you his daughter, just like he does with me.”
“I should probably apologise here but I was eavesdropping on your conversation.”
Pharone laughs, “I forgot you can do that. So, what do you think?”
“I think I am grateful to you. You’ve shown me something that I did not believe possible and given me reason to believe, there is more to this world than most people know.”
“I know neither of you will reveal what you now know about me just as both David and I will keep your secrets, Dayna. I can see David’s thoughts and know for a fact he won’t. With you Dayna, I’m relying on trust but I believe as much as you have my trust, I now have yours.”
“You have to admit, I bet you’ve had worse lovers.” Pharone grinned at me, a knowing, woman-to-woman smile.
