Because he always “forgets” his wallet when he takes his dates to dinner, resulting in her paying for the meal. He does, however, insist that he will pay them back so he is a true gentlemen that way.
 
He always brings his buddy Fildo along and refuses to go anywhere alone with his date even when Fildo tries to insist that he leaves to give them some space. The conclusion is that he's actually terrified of women.
