Exercise and Fitness Exercise, Health & Lifestyle

Supplements- multivitamin, omega 3s, probiotic, collagen, and amino acid with workouts.

Trying to get a new routine going. I feel guilty and am just too busy to go during my lunch hour anymore, which means I’m making myself go at 6am. I workout in the gym- mix of cardio and lifting- 4 days a week. Yoga at least twice a week, with at least one of them being hot yoga. Although covid has fucked that up some. :(

I thought this doc had a very important point to make about exercise.
It is from BBC Horizon and introduces the connection between body type/shape and our genetics.

Learning the ways to keep your own body healthy has to suit your needs as well as your DNA.
(As a Horizon doc, it does gloss over and over simplify many things, but it is a nice introduction to the topic)

Thought it might be of interest.

Covid has been a real major pain in the butt fitness wise. Hopefully gyms will re-open soon as I can't quite afford to buy all the luxurious machines to my home gym!

I currently workout 5 times a week (upper body x2 and lower body x3) with 2 cardio sessions on the "rest days"

Supplements I personally use are: Zinc, Omega 3, BCAA aminoacids, EAA as intra and creatine. Post workout I take glutamine and a protein shake.

Hope everyone is doing best they can to maintain their mental and physical health during this stressing phase. Stay safe!

That is a great back view in your profile. I have been lucky enough to build a small gym In my basement, thankfully! Them gains look good on ya

Yes, I do.
Usually switch running to gym during the winters, because running on slippery surfaces kind of sucks. It can be done, but it's not always enjoyable. Not going to buy studded shoes, because I'm stubborn like that.
Two to four times a week, no regular schedule. Don't eat supplements, I believe a normal diet is good enough.
I don't really have any goals. It's more like something to do.

I gained a lot of weight 2019 because I had to go off my thyroid medication and was generally unhappy with my weight. I was able to get back on the thyroid medication again. So 2020 I decided to work harder to drop the weight. So far i've lost 21 kg ( 47 pounds) 2021 I want to work harder.

If anyone’s looking for a beginners workout to do from home (takes approx. 10 min), see below.

Always stretch/warmup before a workout.

Rocket jumps - 2 sets of 18 reps
Recovery - walk/jog on the spot 30 secs
Squats - 2 sets of 20 reps
Recovery - walk/jog on the spot 30 secs
Tap backs - 2 sets of 15 reps
Recovery - walk/jog on the spot 30 secs
Burpees - 2 sets of 22 reps

Always cool down and stretch.

Rocket Jumps
Stand with feet hip-width apart, bend your legs and hands on your thighs.
Jump up, drive your hands straight above your head and extend your whole body.
Land softly, reposition your feet and repeat.
You can try this in a lower squat position and hold a weight (bottle/can) in both hands at your chest.

Squats
Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and either stretch your arms out in front for balance, or down by your sides.
Bend your knees to lower yourself, until they're almost at a right angle, with your thighs parallel to the floor.
Back straight and never allow your knees to extend past your toes.

Tap backs
Step your right leg back and swing both arms forward. Repeat with the opposite leg in a continuous rhythmic movement.
Keep your hips and shoulders facing forward and stay looking forward. Don't allow your front knee to extend over your toes when stepping back.
Try switching legs by jumping (spotty dog).

Burpees
Stand up straight and drop into a squat with your hands on the ground.
Kick your feet back into a push-up position. Jump your feet back into a squat and jump up with your arms extended over your head.

Nervous about posting this but here I go! A progress photo. I've dropped 27 kg (or 60 pounds so far since last update) Photo on the left was how I looked last year but was a good "normal" photo from 2019. Photo on the right was taken last weekend
Wow! You should make this known to a lot of people to drive them positively that yes it can be done. Looking great!
