So I've decided to go back to my roots for this post only and post something that isn't lost media but is obscure to anyone who's never seen it before. Tatsuya Egawa's Magnum Opus, Golden Boy. Golden Boy is about a 25 Year Old Law School dropout (after having enough credits to do so) turned freeter Kintaro Oe who works various jobs in the 6 Episodic Perverse Seinen Comedy OVA. Where as the Manga, well, never you mind where the Manga goes.

I have watched this Educational 6 Episode OVA when I was 20 the first time one Thanksgiving break from College. I watched it dubbed ofc, which reminds me, anyone who's a fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion (the Dubbed Series) might enjoy this one. A few of the VAs share voices with a few of the ladies in the series, hehe. This series can be viewed in either dubbed or subbed on Crunchyroll or dug on sites like Archive, Dailymotion, Various Anime Video Sites, et cetera.

The Adventure of St. Gallen - István Imre (Presented with the National Film Institute Hungary – Film Archive)

"Lord, spare us from the arrows of the Magyars!"

The aforementioned quote is used in the Middle Ages at a time when throughout West Europe, evening prayers always ended thus: "Lord, spare us from the arrows of the Magyars!". The tranquillity of St. Gallen monastery is thrown into confusion by news that the marauding Magyar hordes are on their way, hearing this, the friars, who have grown soft carousing, flee to the hills. Just a single monk, modest friar Heribáld, remains in the monastery.

The 15 minute Magyar Animated Short Film is one sight to behold of beauty. This historical satire is packed with humorous anachronisms: Heribáld’s pocket watch, for instance, is an hourglass that acts as an alarm clock, and the film’s crew are depicted in the credits wearing medieval costume on ornate historiated initials. The film’s sarcastic method of portrayal is also fully in evidence in the caricature puppet characters designed by Ottó Foky. This is my 4th or 5th time watching the Magyar Short Animated Film, it can be viewed on the Eternal Family App or Website. Plus it's enjoyable for anyone who loves Medieval motifs, and religious and historical satire.

Well done! I was thinking of hunting out the exact same South Park scene. I had also forgotten about the use of our kookaburra's distinctive call on the island, just like in the early Tarzan movies. Too weird and exotic for anyone to think it real let alone one much loved by an entire nation.

Die sieben Raben (The Seven Ravens) - Ferdinand Diehl

Premiered in 1937, this was one of the first animated feature films (released several weeks before Disney's "Snow White"), it retells the Grimm's story of transformation, regret and redemption all via stop motion puppetry. This is the entire film and does have English subtitles available.

The Man Who Planted Trees - Frédéric Back story Jean Giono

Beautiful in style, story and outcome. This is one for those of us who love and respect the trees around us that give so much to our lives, our spirit and existence.

10 of the Weird and Strange Cartoons of the Past

A concise and well presented grouping of sometimes obscure, ground braking or just plain odd early animations.

Felidae - Michael Schaack (Presented with MVD and Restored by Deaf Crocodile) [Based on the 1989 Novel of the same name by Akif Pirinçci]

"Francis has come...To see death with his eyes"
- Boy George (Felidae (Title Song), 1994)

A domestic house cat named Francis investigates the grisly feline murders taking place in his new neighborhood.

As someone who enjoys dark animated thrillers and movies based on books, this animated feature is not for anyone who adores cats. Just a small warning. The story takes place through Francis' Point of View as it opens with his owner, Gustav, moving to a new place in the city. Ultimately, Francis investigates the feline murders in his new neighborhood, just to figure out that cats worship an entity named Claudandus who perform ritualistic suicide by tossing themselves in an electric current.

The film is a cult film, yet is a box office failure in German markets. There's an English dub of the film, on YouTube (but keeps getting removed, for some reason) and/or Internet Archive. The German dub, however, is viewed on the Eternal Family App.

This is definetely not a family-friendly work, and addresses serious topics, so some audiences might find it disturbing. As it's been called either "The Secret of NIMH with Cat Genocide" or "catnip for any weirdo who's ever pondered the possibilities of an R-rated Don Bluth movie".

Laputa: Castle In The Sky - Hayao Miyazaki

Laputa first appeared as the creation of Jonathan Swift in his "Gulliver's Travels" in which he also coined many new words including "Yahoo", the name of a humanesque creature he encountered on his last travel.

"the most filthy, noisome, and deformed animals which nature ever produced . . . "
"restive and indocible, mischievous and malicious."

Something no-one would ever wish to be considered, except of course an internet company.
