Error 500

That usually happens when people have more than one profile, or abandon one and sometimes delete one.

I deleted my original account because I didn't think I wanted to be on it anymore and then decided to open a new account. It's been a few months

I have same problem - just joined and I can get into forum but if I try to go to chat I get this message

You need to start your own thread and explain the situation.

i fixed this issue by changing the email associated with the account. i personally deleted my account and made another with the same email as the deleted one which i think caused this issue.
