How to contact another user: conversation not working

Hi,

How can I contact a particular user? I got disconnected during chat and would like to leave a message to user not currently online(i kknow the username). When trying to start a conversation i get an error saying that i cant start conversation with this user. Help please?

That is because they have their privacy settings so only friends can message them. The only way you can message them is to have them follow you
