Technology Modem help

So my internet provider sent me a new modem a few months ago, but because the old one worked fine for all I want I haven’t bothered to change it over.
Just wondering tho, can a modem make that match difference with speed etc? In other words would it be worth the time it will take to swap it and then change the password on all the devices that use it?
Please keep any response simple because tech does my head in.

If your old modem is DOCSIS 3.0+, you likely don't need an upgrade, especially if they want to charge you extra for the use of upgraded modem.

If you just stream TV content, like Netflix/etc and browse, you don 't need anything fancy. If your old modem is DOCSIS 3.0, you're fine. I'd just keep using the old one until it dies.

if you get over 30Mb/s, you're fine for mostly everything.

If you were referring to replacing a router with a built-in modem, you'd simply connect to the new wireless network with all other devices. You can certainly choose the same password.
