"Forever" can be a declaration of commitment, a blindfold of fantasy, or a means of manipulation.
Are you in love with love, or with the person?
Are you romancing romance, or the person?
Are you building something together, or are you pretending to?
Are you bringing to life the person you imagine them to be, or are you seeing and appreciating the person really in front of you?
Are you hooked on the immediate gratification of your loins, or are you hooked on that person's heart?
Some words weigh more than others and forever is not just any word. Forever is you giving your word.
"For now" is a promise of one night, the promise of a present.
"Forever" is a promise of thousands of nights, the promise of a future.
A "for now" without expectations, without attachments can transform into a "forever".
The only way to find out if it will be a "forever" is for every moment to start off as a "for now".
Sometimes life causes a forever to change into a for now. Then "for now" is all we have, all we can have. That all is honest and real.
In the end...whether someone or something promises or is promised a for now or forever, what matters is for that choice of words to be meaningful, for the promise to be true to its purpose.
