Leaving

I keep thinking about leaving,
Not the place, but who I am.
There’s a voice inside my head
That keeps telling me I can’t.

It whispers when the room goes quiet,
Gets louder when I’m alone.
Turns every little failure
Into reasons to go home.
And the bad thoughts keep coming,
Like a tide against the door.
I tell them I’m not listening,
But I’ve heard them all before.

I’ve packed away the better days,
Put the photographs face down.
I keep looking for an exit
In a life I can’t get out.

And somewhere underneath it,
There’s a voice I barely know.
It used to tell me I could stay here,
Now it only whispers, go.

And the bad thoughts keep coming,
Till I can't tell them from my own.
I’m still standing in the doorway,
But I don’t feel like I’m home.

The light is on behind me,
The hallway disappears.
I thought that I was leaving
Maybe I’ve been gone for years.

Melody

Somewhere in the darkness
A melody softly plays
The tune a reminder
Of what I can't recall
A happier time perhaps
Or a person long gone now
It's continuos hum echos
Somewhere in my head
A never-ending companion
Wether it beckons or repells
Is it lost or is the lost one me
Maybe one day it will fade away
A forgotten memory
I wonder can I only hear it
Or is the melody just me

Detached

They never said why they hated me
Just left me standing at the door
Their laughter followed everywhere
And I stopped asking what for

I watched them build their circle
A place where I would never fit
And somewhere in the silence
I began to believe it

Perhaps I was the problem
Perhaps they saw what I couldn't see
Perhaps the person they rejected
Was the person I was meant to be

But sometimes I wonder late at night
If they were cruel or I was wrong
If I deserved to be excluded
Or just stayed where I didn't belong

Low

I was standing in the shadows, trying not to fall apart,
Hiding all the pieces of a worn out, tired heart.
Everyone kept walking by like they didn’t even know
But you looked in my direction, saw me sinking low.

You didn’t ask for magic, didn’t need me shining bright,
Still you stayed a moment longer than anyone that night.

And something in me trembled,
’Cause I’m scared of being seen
But you felt like someone safe enough
To ask the things I never ask out loud, the things I really mean…

Would you love me when I’m low,
When the light is gone and I can’t glow?
When the world feels heavy on my bones,
And I don’t know where to go
Would you stay, would you hold me close,
Would you love me when I’m low?

I’ve been strong for everybody, even when my hands would shake,
But you read between the lines of all the smiles I tried to fake.
You didn’t turn away from all the storms inside my chest
You said the quiet parts of me still deserved a place to rest.

And suddenly I’m wondering if I could let you in,
If I could trust somebody with the places that I’ve been.

Cause I don’t ask for shelter,
But I’m tired of standing tall
If I gave you all my fragile parts,
Would you catch me if I fall?

Would you love me when I’m low,
When the light is gone and I can’t glow?
When the world feels heavy on my bones,
And I don’t know where to go
Would you stay, would you hold me close,
Would you love me when I’m low?

If I drop the armor,
If my voice comes out in whispers
If I’m not the hero,
Just a heart that’s growing dimmer
Would you pull me from the quiet,
Help me find a little hope?
Tell me, darling, tell me truly,
Would you love me when I’m low?

Would you love me when I’m low,
When I’m lost and moving slow?
When the colors fade to grey
And I’m unsure of my own soul
Would you stay, would you hold me close,
Promise me you won’t let go
Would you love me when I’m low?

Looming

I've been contemplating death for some time
Trying to find the last bit of life in me,
Trying to act like I'm fine
Finally get my funeral
Finally die all alone
Become nothing more, than a name on someones phone

It's looming now, it's looming now
In this lonely cold night
It's looming now

It always seemed fitting, to just leave
When the people you love, just want to turn away, it becomes harder to believe
I thought beachy head would be beautiful
It's high up, what a view
Wanted to jump off and say goodbye, but now there's you

It's looming, it's looming now
I don't want to say goodbye
Its looming

You always shine like a star
Even when you seem like you're so far
For the first time in a long time I want to stay
I want to see the lines on your face form, I want to watch you grow old
I want to be the one you turn to, I want to be the one you hold

It's looming it's looming now
Thank God that I'm alive
It's looming now

Hating Rating

I hate the scales that people make
To judge a smile or nose or shape
As if a soul can rise or fall
Because it doesn't please them all

"She's just a six" "He's barely a three"
What ugly words that needn't be
Reducing lives to points and grades
Like hearts are prizes on parade

No number captures joy or grace
Or every scar that time can't erase
A rating says far more it's true
About the one who's judging you

So keep your charts I want no part
You cannot measure someone's heart
For beauty blooms where kindness grows
Not in the score somebody chose

Love this, but also couldn't resist giving it a rating of 100% :)
