Is this thread nothing but hate for one side or the other?
I tend to lean both ways on most issues, and I would consider myself an independent rather than a republican or a democrat. However, branding someone as automatically wrong just because they are another side is, frankly, pointless and does nothing to solve problems. Now, not all the ideas the founding fathers had were good ones, and heck, most of them aren't even relevant today. However, they founded a country that implicitly works on the principle that compromise is the best way to govern. I don't believe that this is the fastest or most effective way to do things, but if its done properly then it could be the best way. Looking at politics these days makes me sick. Instead of compromising, or even being reasonable with each other, both parties have resorted to the equivalent of "Mud in your eye", and disgusting and useless arguing and delay tactics. If they learned to be less stubborn and work together, maybe something would actually get done in this country. But, until then, as a country we're screwed.
But, I am also aware that I'm just dreaming, and this is something that likely won't happen in my time.
