Its not going to go away . Republicans will never impeach him. So the best possible thing now is for Democrats to take one or both parts of Congress to negate his bad effect on this country. It's not likely they will take both. But the House is seriously a possibility. Then hope he loses the next election.
 
The House would have to put it to a vote. And they won't. It's not that easy to change things in American politics. Not when it comes to Congress anyway. The Democrats do need someone to take the lead there are a few promising people. But they also need to rally the base. I think they will figure it out soon. Only because they have to. On the other hand all these people who come out to protest and all the people who voted in November when Dems won a ton of local elections all from different progressive groups and backgrounds. Democrats need to do a better job using that to their advantage.

It is—must pass the testing before exiting elementary school and high school—but those twits weren't paying attention and are too lazy to inform themselves. The information is not a secret.

I find that most countries use an antiquated voting system. The world is progressing yet our voting systems are not. I watched an interview with the former governor of California who brought up the issue of moving district boundaries in order to fair up the election votes.

Republicans are very much against the idea of the popular vote, because they'd never win a country-wide election. The intent to change the system surfaces for discussion, but it would be very, very difficult to bring it up to light for a vote.

My question is what will it take to make the elections fair. The electoral college vote seems to favour parties and not the candidate. That seems to be a major deterrent in getting the young people out to vote. Even more so if you had to move from a blue state to a red state for a job and realize that your vote no longer counts.

That isn't the deterrent. The problem is apathy, misinformation and lack of critical approach. We need more votes for other candidates, to trigger govt funding for other parties.

Young people are way more involved Goth than they used to be. You didn't see this kind of activism when I was in my twenties. I mean my generation was the first one to be named with a letter. If was x because of our apathy and lack of engagement. I thought it was bullshit back then. But it was true. Not everyone of course. But it was true for a lot of us me included. Here in the D.C area are plenty of organized groups of mostly young people who are seriously engaged. There is even a running joke that protest is the new meeting place for them. For the more hardcore they say Go protest , get sprayed ( with oc spray ) go to dinner. That part of the movement is what concerns me more than the apathy of some. The by any means necessary idea of protest is not helpful. ( Google Blackbloch) . Now to be fair those groups are not the mainstream and are usually anti government to begin with but they feed into the Repubs bullshit Everytime they attack people, property or cops.
 
In America free speech is absolute with very few exceptions. You can't yell fire in a movie theater, call in a bomb threat etc. But people have the right to say anything they want. Even if it's hateful. It is protected by the Constitution. As far as the statues go I personally don't care about them one way or the other. But I will give you the history of them and see if it sways your opinion. They were put up years after the Civil War. During the height of Jim Crow and lynching. They were not put up to commerate history, but as a symbol of white supremesy. They were meant to be a reminder to black people that even though the South lost. They were still subjugated. That was the intent behind them. There are violent fringe groups on the left. But way more violence has been committed by the far right. Only one side brought guns to Charlottesville , only one side killed someone. And only one side posts videos about how the want to kill blacks , Jews Hispanics etc. Terror is how they operate and has been since the beginning of the Klan etc.
 
Free speech is only guaranteed not to be censored by the government on public property. The amendment is sadly misinterpreted by most people.

What speakers can say while invited by a corporations/groups is typically highly controlled. It's the people who censor each other.
 
I haven't posted on this old thread in forever. But today we lost a man who was the exact opposite of the men and women this thread is about. I didn't always agree with his politics. But I always thought he was doing what he thought was best for his district and country. Unlike many polititions now. Need more like that . Of course I'm talking about Sen. John McCain.
 
T.rump is a Republican. Of course other Republicans back him. Just like Dems backed O.bama. I dont know what youre surprised by this?

Who said I was surprised. I've always thought Republicans were hypocrites and didn't care about the people. They just aren't trying to fake as if they do anymore. But surprised no haha. And you do realize he isn't actually a Republican right ? He only became a Republican to run for office. He used to support Democrats. He says whatever you want to hear that's his politics.

Personally, I dont care what party hes on or which he supports. I care about his policies, laws, bills, etc that hes pushing for. Many people who are now Republicans, used to support the Democrats.

Somehow Nixon and Clinton were able to do their jobs while being investigated. Clinton was able to do his job while actually being impeached . Eleven Oregon State Senators walked out of the state capital building because they didn't have the votes to stop a anti pollution bill. But by leaving they leave the Senate short of the minimum required for a bill to be voted on. That is the ultimate lack of balls. Can't win the old fashioned way so they walk off their jobs . They are now literally in hiding because the governor has sent the state police to find them and bring them back to the capital. And a few right wing militias have vowed to protect the fugitives from the police. Crazy af
 
Ok so I'll jump in here even this thread is old. So Democrats are the enemy of the people? Lemme think that out:
1. Who has more accusers of sexual misconduct? (Ok, I'll give you Bill Clinton on that one...)
2. Who has now a history of tearing down our intelligence and security systems such as CIA and NSA?
3. Who is it that's putting children in concentration camps - which has now been proven.
4. Who lies, makes fun of, and berates anyone, especially women, that challenge him?
5. And what political party has lost all respect because they follow a man only interested in his self promotion and avoiding all the scandals he's been caught up in - most recently the Eggplant case with underage girls?
6. What political party wants to remove health care from millions and replace it with one they cannot even create?
7. What political party wants to be 'less government' and yet tries to deny women their essential rights such as abortion?
8. What El Comandante actually honors dictators from Russian and North Korea?

I could go on and on. So you idiots keep preaching how great Rudeman is and worshiping the Republican party. That is, until he gets his ass handed to him in the next election. And then watch all those Republican politicians run from him faster than shit outta a goose. But the public remembers and watches, so many will lose their positions as well.

I just read that these home monitoring devices have now been caught (Alexa, Dot, Google Assistant) spying on people when they're not supposed to. It's like someone bringing a microphone into your house and you just let them listen to anything going on. I think I'll start saying shit like "Hey Google, kill the El Comandante" I wonder how long it'd be until the Secret Service showed up at my door. But, everyone has a right to say anything they want in their own home - or do they? That is my example of Republican politics.
 
This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Republicans per say . But it does have something to do with a alt right street gang and I find it funny. So on July 4 the Proud Boys were supposed to be providing ' security' for speakers at a right wing free speech rally in DC. But the security had to be escorted to and from the protest site by MPD. Why ? Because Antifa was waiting for them. So they stood behind the police all day and talked shit , while Antifa tried to break the police lines and engage. Bunch of pussies with no balls. Then later when they went to a bar to drink they had to be protected by the MPD again. A bit off topic but I find it funny as hell.

Antifa is a terrorist organization. They literally fit the definition of such. It doesnt/shouldn't matter if someone is "talking shit" to you or not; theres no reason to assault someone because they have a different opinion than you

If they are then so are the Proud boys . It's hypocritical to call one a terrorist group but not the other. They both use violence towards those that don't agree with them. And what about the other white nationalist groups that have commitments violence? If you only label your enemies as terrorists but not your supporters who are violent as well, then you are using the power of the state to try and crush dissent. Classic facist move .
