Hey there, first off I think the new chat is much better and an improvement over all in so msny ways, the dark mode is way better than the darker themes on the past ones, and it's in general more customizable snd usert friendly with its options everyone can have a personalized experience.
However there's a big problem in the old chat that is still apparently existing and it's the fact that you lose your pms once you leave chrome, I understand that this makes it safer for privacy reasons but like It's pretty hard to stay on chrome all the time cause you're chatting someone you like, even if you do that, a simple phone call can still get you out of chrome enough for you to lose your pms.
(edit:maybe it can be a preference u choose to turn on or off? Like do u want ur chats saved? Or something like that, maybe u can choose who to keep ur chats saved with, like "only friends " )
That's the main problem for me, another suggestion would be if it'd be possible for users to have like a customizable section in the emojis bar like your favorite emojis or most used or most recent, cause yes the emojis now are cool but there's alot of them and I kinda already know my favorite ones, so I think if I cam just select my favorites and have them in one bundle or section, it'd make using emojis much easier for me at least.
